DUSA Exec statement on Supreme Court ruling and support for trans students
We are disappointed by the Supreme Court’s ruling that “the terms woman and sex in the Equality Act 2010 refer to a biological woman and biological sex.”
As our newly appointed Vice President of Academia, a Bachelor of Science Biomedical Sciences, School of Life Sciences – Mubarak plays a crucial role in overseeing all academic matters and also deputises for the president during her absence. Mubarak’s primary focus lies in assisting students as they prepare for life after university, ensuring that no one is left behind in their academic journey. Moreover, he is passionate about fostering a vibrant campus experience by promoting a harmonious integration of academics and social interactions.
Academic excellence and more
Mubarak wants to ensure that every student thrives academically and personally. He wants to create an environment where learning goes beyond the classroom, where students are not just recipients of knowledge but active participants in their own growth. He aims to foster a culture where students are well-prepared for life after university, equipped with both academic excellence and essential life skills.
One of his key priorities is raising awareness about academic misconduct issues, ensuring that students are well-informed and protected. Mubarak is a strong advocate for fair treatment of students throughout all processes, so if you require any assistance, do not hesitate to contact him via email.
Join his mission
In his term as Vice President of Academia, Mubarak is determined to bring about positive changes that enhance the overall student experience. He wants to strengthen the support systems in place for students transitioning into their professional lives, providing them with resources, mentorship, and guidance. And, also plan to promote existing interactive platforms where students can engage with their peers and professors, fostering a sense of community that goes beyond lectures and exams — educating students about academic integrity and protecting them from poor academic judgment.
An interesting fact about Mubarak
Mubarak really enjoys sports, particularly combat sports. Spending time with animals with a particular fondness for kittens and having been privileged to live in 4 different countries in the past 7 years has endowed him with a rich tapestry of cultural experiences and perspectives.
