DUSA Exec statement on Supreme Court ruling and support for trans students
We are disappointed by the Supreme Court’s ruling that “the terms woman and sex in the Equality Act 2010 refer to a biological woman and biological sex.”
DUSA is a unique charity and its governance and strategic direction are led by its Board of Trustees. The executives also make up the student representatives on the board and become a prominent part of the six “Additional Trustees” who get appointed due to their professional knowledge and experience. Be it sabbatical or non-sabbatical.
We just announced DUSA Elections results 2023 and we still have a few positions left to elect, below are the positions we are seeking nominations for:
1) Vice President of Fundraising: The Vice President of Fundraising is the lead representative for the Raising and Giving (RAG) campaign, managing the election of DUSA’s annual RAG charity and having oversight on any related RAG projects across the year.
The nominated charity of the year is CanDu. CanDu is a patient-led network working in partnership with local support organisations to improve the lives of anyone affected by cancer.
2) SRC Chair: The Student Representative Council (SRC) is an elected body of students and has a series of important responsibilities which make sure that students have a lead role in deciding how DUSA can best serve students.
3) School Presidents: School Presidents work closely with the DUSA Executive and attend SRC meetings during the academic year. Roles are open for the following schools:
i) DJCAD
ii) Dentistry
iii) Health and Sciences
