The annual DUSA Student-Led Teaching Awards are back! This is your opportunity to recognise, reward, and celebrate the staff who go above and beyond to make your Dundee experience great. Every year, the Vice President of Academia is in charge of organising these awards to show our University staff how much we appreciate them and their hard work.
I’m really excited to have the opportunity to lead on the Student-Led Teaching Awards this year. We have incredible staff at the University, both teaching staff and non-teaching staff, and this is a fantastic opportunity to recognise them for the amazing work they do.
Every student will have at least one member of staff who has made a real difference to them, whether it’s an amazing module they’ve run, or gone above and beyond to help you out, or just being a great teacher. If someone came to mind there, nominate them!
There are ten categories for the Student-Led Teaching Awards every year, and this year’s categories were as follows, with the nominees listed and the winners in bold …
For any member of staff, academic or non-academic, who has made a real difference to the student experience.
For a member of staff who has shown ongoing commitment and allyship to students through EDI advocacy to enhance the university experience.
For any module, undergraduate or postgraduate, that has been especially engaging, impactful, well-organised, and enjoyable. Please specify the module code, title, and lead.
For an Advisor of Studies or Supervisor who has gone above and beyond for their advisees, providing pastoral support, guidance, and care.
For any member of staff who has shown an outstanding commitment to enhancing employability for students.
For a lecturer who has been engaging, helpful, and an excellent teacher over the year. Someone whose classes you are excited to go to!
For someone whose teaching is adaptable, exciting, and modern, someone who uses innovative ways to get their material across.
For a member of staff who does not teach, but has gone above and beyond to enhance other elements of your student experience.
For a postgraduate tutor or teaching assistant who has done an outstanding job this year, and has made an impact on your student experience.
For a member of staff who has worked together with students this year to make a difference, whether through joint initiatives, co-creation, or any other demonstration of effective staff-student partnership.
The winners are decided based on both the quantity and quality of the nominations, shortlisted by the eight School Presidents, and the winners decided by the Student Representative Council (SRC).
