Brian Cox wins Rectors election
Voting for the University of Dundee Rector Election closed on Friday 12th February and Hollywood actor, Brian Cox emerged the winner.
The Univeristy of Dundee has an impressive history of 'big name' rectors with the likes of Peter Ustinov, Stephen Fry and Lorraine Kelly having once held the position.
Little has changed in 2010 and we are proud to announce that the students have made explicidly clear that Brian Cox should be the next Rector of the University of Dundee.
A total of 1,617 students turned out to vote - a record turnout in any University of Dundee Rector elections.
Brian Cox was born in Dundee and is known for his work with the Royal Shakespeare Company, where he gained great recognition for his portrayal of King Lear.
Amongst student perhaps, Brian is best known for his roles in Rob Roy, Braveheart, The Ring, X2, Super Troopers The Escapist, Troy and The Bourne Supremacy.

A total of 950 students turned out to vote in the School President elections - another record for this type of election at the University of Dundee.
